Upcoming Spring Sermons

After finishing the book of 1 Peter on Sunday, we have a Mother’s Day sermon this Sunday, April 9th. We will be considering the wisdom of Proverbs and motherhood. We hope you’ll come!

On May 16th and 23rd Pastor Steve will be talking about the mission and vision of Doxa as we think about everything from our mission over the summer to a vision of ministry over the next few years.

Tired of running ragged and never finding peace and rest? May 30th a new series begins called Abide. We live in a world where consumption and advertising and doing more and going faster and farther push us through daily life. Pastor Steve is going to talk about what it means to abide in Christ (John 15) by living through regular rhythms of prayer, study, community and more. We believe this will be a life-changing series for Christians as we grow more like Christ through abiding in Christ. For non-Christians, seekers, skeptics, this should be a great series to understand both the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the implications for life in His Kingdom.

A Hope . A Vision . A City

The ministry of Tim Keller in NYC one that we highly recommend here at Doxa. His church, Redeemer, is a great example of a church making an impact in their culture. They have launched The REN3W Campaign with the goal of “drawing many more un-churched people into a relationship with God…[and have] a reputation for serving and loving those in the city who don’t share our beliefs as well as loving those who do.” They offer this beautiful video to explain REN3W. It’s profound. May we seek the shalom of Woodstock and McHenry County…

Fight Clubs – New, Free Resource

fight-clubs-graphic_2We all need to grow as Christians, as Christ-followers, as disciples. But temptation, struggle, apathy, and more make the fight for faithfulness very difficult. Jonathan Dodson has provided us with a great, new resource for growing as disciples called Fight Clubs.

We want to encourage you to pick up this book (Buy Fight Clubs or download it for free). At 55 pages, it should be a no-brainer.

Let’s grow together for the sake of the mission of bringing the message of the gospel of glory into our culture through Doxa.

Jesus Wants the Rose

As we move closer to Good Friday (the cross) and Easter (the resurrection), it’s good to meditate on why Jesus dies for sinners. Here’s Matt Chandler, a pastor in suburban Dallas, with a story from his past about who Jesus wants. If you don’t think Jesus wants you because of how you’ve lived your life, He does.
